Paying your Staff and the IRD, what are the options?

When it comes to paying your staff and/or the IRD, there are essentially two options available;

  1. We provide you with a report and Direct Credit file and you process the payments yourself via Online Banking, or
  2. We manage this process by pushing the Direct Credit file through to your Bank. You will still get a Direct Credit Report.

Option 1 - Do it Your Yourself - no additional charges

About 50% of our clients choose this option as they have the capability and resources available to handle it. On Approval of your payroll, we will send you a Direct Credit Report and a zip file containing a Direct Credit File in the format required by your Bank. See the Related Article below for instructions.

Option 2 - We process the Direct Credit File for you - charges apply

On Approval of your payroll, we will just send you a Direct Credit Report as we will upload the DC file directly to your Bank. Each Bank operates slightly differently as follows:

BANK NAME FORMAT NEW ACCOUNT CHARGES APPROVAL
ASB Secure FTP transfer No need to set up a new bank account Bank Handling Fee and Transaction Fees None required
ANZ Web Based Portal No need to set up a new bank account Bank Handling Fee and Transaction Fees Ezypay approves the payments on your behalf
BNZ Secure FTP transfer No need to set up a new bank account Bank Handling Fee and Transaction Fees None required
Kiwibank Web Based Portal

You will need to create a new Bank Account so our staff do not have visibility to your main account.

You will need to ensure funds are transferred to this Payroll account each pay.

Bank Handling Fee. Transaction Fees are charged directly by your Bank. You will be prompted by your bank App to approve the payment.
Westpac Secure FTP transfer No need to set up a new bank account Bank Handling Fee. Transaction Fees are charged directly by your Bank. None required

Currently, these are the only Banks we can manage payments on your behalf. We have NO VISIBILITY to your Bank accounts (apart from Kiwibank but we can only see the Payroll Account) and the transaction will appear as a Total figure on your Bank Statement.

If you wish to use any of the above Bank options, please let us know and we will forward you the required forms to complete and information on fees. Don't forget to tell us what Bank you are with.
