Understanding Termination Figures

A detailed description on how Termination Pay is calculated is part of the articles below. This one is just to help explain the figures on the Pay Advice Detail Report.

The example above is pretty typical except for the ACC component,

  • Alternative Leave - any outstanding Alternative Leave must be paid out on Termination at the Employee's Relevant Daily Pay, possibly the hours they worked on their last day of work.
  • Annual Leave (Termination) - this is Entitled/Outstanding Leave that must be paid as if the employee is taking the leave, see article below.
  • Annual Leave (% Curr Year) - this is 8% of Gross Earnings since the employee's last Entitlement.
  • Annual Leave (% Final Pay) - this is 8% on all liable payments (not in this example are any final worked hours, salary, allowances etc), excluding the % Curr Year item, so in the example above it is 8% of $416 + $104.
