Displaying Leave in Days

Here at Ezypay, we have always maintained our Leave Records in Days for a number of reasons.

  1. The Holiday's Act refers to most Leave in Days (apart from Annual Leave, which is in Weeks). Sick, Alternative, Bereavement and Family Violence are all referenced in Days.
  2. In relation to Annual Leave, we accrue based on Weeks but we display it in Days as everyone knows what a Day is, and there are only 7 Days in a week etc.
  3. Many of the calculations around Leave also refer to 'Daily Calculations;
    1. Relevant DAILY Pay (RDP) for FBAPS (Family Violence, Bereavement, Alternative, Public Holiday (Unworked) and Sick) Leave. Average DAILY Pay (ADP) as alternative calculations for FBAPS Leave.
    2. Other items such as Ordinary Weekly Pay (OWP), Average Weekly Earnings (AWE) and 4 Weeks Earnings, are much easier to determine when recording leave in Days.
  4. Most Employment Contracts refer to Leave in Days.
  5. MBIE in their Guidelines for Leave Calculations recommends that Hours are not used to accrue Annual Leave for Variable Hours and Variable Days employees.
  6. As most of the Mandatory Leave items have to be held in Days, it makes it consistent to maintain all leave records in Days rather than a mixture of the two.

When it comes to taking leave, you can easily enter part-days through our Ezytime Portal.
